Fault Code List And Explanations

hi all, i got vag com working, although it said interface not found i saved it anyway and hey presto it worked when the ignition was on.

i found this page of fault codes that may be useful for the faqs.

it lists nearly every code going i think

 

told me i had immobilizer issue, i went to the immo module and it gave me 01176 key. dont know why this is , although sometimes it turns over a while before it starts the car has always started in the end. its said that if it was immo issue then usually car runs for a few seconds then stops.

It may just be historic and require clearing.

 

Could be remote key problem rather than possible immobiliser issue.

although we can get to the info we need to diagnose the problem, what do i do now i have it !!!!

 

do i hope it dont happen again, do i go to dealers and let them tell me i need a new immo and new keys, i only got one black key anyway !

 

the fact that the car starts and always has it syas theres a fault.

Yeh, sorry I modified the post while you were still reading it.

 

Try clearing the fault code and see if it returns.

01176 is a signal issue. Its not been able to communicate with the key correctly which could be either a defective transponder (in the key) or tranceiever unit (around the ignition barrel) but more likely a blocked signal due to other keys being on your keyring. If you have multiple car keys on the one ring you can get issues creaping in as the transeiver powers all in its local range - the result being multiple codes being returned to it and blocked communication (and the code)

 

Reset it and see if it comes back - only then should you worry.

something just come to mind, the fault said, unauthorized, intermittent, around a year ago i got a key cut with a chip in it, i have not had it matched to the ecu though, i did try to start the car with it but it started then cut out as indeed it should.

i wonder if that was the unauthorized attempt.

 

i have cleared the code and will check later.

Yep, same with my wife she loves it as well......more room for her fat backside :lol:

 

Mine the same as yours but has the crappy 90ps engine....and its slightly older.... :)
